The 31-year-old also insisted he had no regrets that he could not remain in Serie A after a move to Torino failed to materialise with the Granata needing someone to compete for a first-team place immediately.
“Now I’m in England, my condition is good,” Dossena told Radio Marte.
“The injury means fifteen days out, so I will soon be available.
“I was pleased to return to the Premier League. It is the most watched league in the world; the atmosphere is nice and affectionate
“I’m at a Sunderland team which is low-profile, such as Bologna, yet there is a great enthusiasm at the stadium.
“Napoli was a great experience in my career, I have lived it intensely and I was part of a winning cycle. I gave my best until the last day.
“Napoli has done well and made a tremendous step forward. You need to understand if the Bianconeri will improve.
“With [Juan] Zuniga, [Juventus] would have been very strong, fortunately he remained [with Napoli].
“No regrets, they [Torino] needed a player ready now.”
