Frustration for Ventura after defeat to Atalanta
Giampiero Ventura believed his Torino side were unfortunate to lose 2-0 to Atalanta on Sunday night and reiterated his belief that the home sides’ opening should have been disallowed as defender Mario Yepes was in an offside position.
While admitting that his side did not take the chances they created the Granata coach also expressed his regret at being sent from the side lines for his protests and accepted the match officials’ stance on his actions.
“The offside for Yepes that was not seen? It has happened now,” Ventura told Sky Sport Italia.
“We created several scoring chances that we did not take. Until the opening goal of Atalanta, which should have been ruled out, we had only suffered one shot on our goal.
“Obviously there is regret for the result. My expulsion? With my gesticulating I protested too much, and the regulation forbids it. It has been duly noted.
“Maybe we deserved the win, we missed too many scoring opportunities.”
