It has been reported that former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has turned down an initial offer from Turkish side Galatasaray to take over from Fatih Terim who was sacked on September 24.

The Cimbom have also lined up Roberto Di Matteo and Giovanni Trapattoni as possible replacements on what is an Italian influenced shortlist.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Mancini is set to reject the first offer from the Turkish giants although the Super Lig side are expected to follow up with another offer to try to change his mind.

Roberto Di Matteo is plan B for the Turkish champions after he recently turned down the offer to manage Sunderland.

The Champions League wining coach is believed to have deemed Wearside to be too much of a step down for him and Galatasaray hope that the allure of playing in Europe’s elite competition and a generous transfer budget will be enough to entice the 43-year-old to head to the Istanbul side’s bench.

The experienced Giovanni Trapattoni is also being considered as a replacement for Terim after his departure from the Irish national side and the 74-year-old has previously said he would like to continue working in football.
