Galliani: Kaka is necessary for AC Milan’s tactics
The 31-year-old rejoined the Rossoneri on Monday after four seasons with Real Madrid, but Galliani insists the move was not based on sentimentality.
“I was one of the 15,000 Kaka orphans when he left, like many of the fans, but this move is not just sentimental,” he stated.
“We primarily signed him for tactical reasons. [Massimiliano] Allegri pushed to have him back and we immediately thought of Kaka after selling Kevin-Prince Boateng. Matri will replace Petagna. We decided to change formation so here is Kaka.
“Nobody has entered the hearts of Milan fans quite like Ricardo. I will never forget August 15, 2003 when we bought Kaka, as we knew we had signed a great player.
“Every year that he was with Real Madrid I always sent him a message on April 22 wishing him a happy birthday. This club has never forgotten him.
“He didn’t want to leave four years ago as it was Milan who decided to sell him to Real Madrid. The past can’t be changed, we thought it was for the best at the time.
“Our relationship with him never ended, he was always in our hearts. We knew, sooner or later, that we would bring him home.
“We have been trying to bring him back for the past 2-3 seasons. There is a special relationship with him. You can’t judge emotions. ”
