Genoa youth coach suspended after spying on Sampdoria training session while in fatigues
The incident took place on Friday as the Blucerchiati were holding a regularly scheduled training session that was not open to the public ahead of the city derby.
De Pra, who was dressed in fatigues and compared to ‘Rambo’ according to Sportmediaset, was stationed under a tree in order to try and steal information for the Grifone ahead of the match.
However De Pra was seen by Sampdoria team manager Giorgio Ajazzone, who along with security, took a picture of the coach that made it on to the Blucerchiati’s website.
The incident did not amuse the Grifone who have suspended De Pra while distancing themselves from the incident, stating the club were not involved in the espionage attempt.
“Genoa Cfc, with reference to what happened this morning, specifies that no director or component of the technical staff has given a mandate to Mr Luca De Pra, goalkeeping coach of the Primavera, to follow the training session at Bogliasco,” a statement on the official Genoa website read.
“It is being treated as an initiative of a personal nature. This process has never been used in the past and is not part of the method of operation used at our club.
“The club want it to be known that Mr. De Pra has been suspended with immediate effect from his position as we await all explanations.”
