Kaka unveiled as an AC Milan player
The Brazilian left the Italians four seasons ago for a then world record fee of €65 million, but after a disappointing stay in Madrid, the former Ballon d’Or winner is delighted to be back with the Milan club.
“My return to Milanello? First of all I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome,” he stated at his presentation on Thursday.
“Returning to Milan is something special. These are great days. With my wife I have experienced the ten years I spent with Milan and those great feelings are happening once again.
“I have had great experiences here as I did in Madrid. Now I am an experienced player and will do my job with regard to the dressing room just like when I was a youngster.
“The new Milan? Milan are a successful club and even though things have changed with regard to my past, I expect a club that will do well.
“My position on the field? Before speaking about this I want to talk to the coach to understand what he wants. My role is what it is, trequartista, but I have also played as a secondary striker. We will see what is needed.
“My experience in Spain? On a personal level my time in Madrid was great. On a professional level, things didn’t go as I had planned. During the difficult times I grew, even when I left. Real Madrid are a great club and I am happy to have been part of their history even though things did not go as planned. I am happy with those years but because of my situation I lost the joy of playing the game a bit.
“Ancelotti’s arrival in Madrid? We talked a lot over the past month. The club wanted to look at younger players, he and I talked about it and we decided to go our separate ways.
“My relationship with Mourinho? It was not his fault that I lost my love for the game. The responsibility is always mine. I was always available, I looked to work and do my best. He had different ideas. No fault of his, in fact he taught me a lot off the pitch.
“Balotelli and I? I think we can do well. He is a great player just like Matri and Robinho. I am sure we can do well for the good of Milan.
“Am I ready to play? Yes, I played last Thursday with Real Madrid. I have to find my best form and the feeling with the pitch but I am ready.
“Have I spoken with Berlusconi? I spoke with him, he was happy just as I was. We spoke about some things.
“What do I promise the fans? That I will do everything to return to playing and doing the best for Milan.”
