Lichtsteiner: Juventus’ start has given the squad confidence
The Bianconeri’s first official game of 2013/14 saw them lift the Supercoppa Italiana a resounding 4-0 win over Lazio, while they have also won their first two league games of the season, coming out 1-0 winners away against Sampdoria and 4-1 victors at home to the Biancocelesti.
“It’s always important to start well and we’ve done just that,” the 29-year-old Swiss international told Sport.ch.
“The victory in the Supercoppa [Italiana] and the two wins in the league were the best start to the season.
“This start has increased the trust we have in ourselves.”
Meanwhile, the Old Lady’s next game in Serie A comes after the two week international break on September 14 away to Inter, and the Champions League group stages see them drawn against Spanish giants Real Madrid.
“At the moment I’m only thinking about the [Swiss] national team and doing well with them in the two games against Iceland and Norway, two matches that we absolutely want to win,” he continued.
“Then there will be time to think about Inter or Real [Madrid].”
Lichtsteiner has managed 8 goals in 78 appearances at the Juventus Stadium since moving from capital club Lazio in 2011.
