Llorente surprised at lack of playing time at Juventus
Juventus striker Fernando Llorente has expressed his disbelief at the lack of playing time in Turin under coach Antonio Conte but insisted that he will prove himself as once he is given the chance to impress the Bianconeri boss.
After surprisingly being left on the substitutes bench during Tuesday night’s Champions League opener with Copenhagen and then not getting an opportunity with the Old Lady chasing victory the comments of the 28-year-old were released to the media.
“I am surprised I haven’t played but will repay Juve, soon I will have a chance,” Llorente told La Stampa.
This is a situation that the Spanish international is quite familiar with after a dispute with former club Athletic Bilbao left him on the San Mames sidelines for the majority of his last La Liga campaign.
After deciding he would run his contract down in Bilbao last season the Basque club and coach Marcelo Bielsa took the unprecedented step of insisting that their talismanic striker no longer warrant a first-team place.
With that policy in place the World Cup winner started just four matches, but making another 21 appearances as substitute.
