Moratti pleasantly surprised with performance of new Inter signing
The Nerazzurri acquired the veteran defender on a free transfer from Napoli this summer and the 68-year-old executive has admitted that he has been impressed by the Argentinian international.
“I knew that he was a good defender but he’s done even better than I had anticipated,” he stated to reporters regarding his club’s transfer dealings this summer.
“However, the other purchases haven’t surprised me as much because I already knew what kind of qualities they possessed before we brought them in.”
Inter has enjoyed a good start to the season so far, winning their first two games against Genoa and Catania, which is the first time that they have gained all six points from their opening league matches in a decade.
And while Moratti was satisfied with the positive results so far, he nonetheless urged his team to remain focused ahead of more difficult fixtures.
“I spoke with manager Walter Mazzarri and have seen how determined the players are, so I expected a good performance against Catania and they delivered just that [on Sunday].
“In terms of how far we can go, well, we’ve only played two league fixtures. But, I feel that we can do well this season if we remain focused and keep performing as well as we have done so far.”
