Serie A will have at least two more years of Francesco Totti entertaining crowds after finally signing a two-year contract extension with Roma.

During his presentation to the media the 36-year-old thanked the Giallorossi for providing the opportunity to continue his career at the club while suggesting that Juventus had not shown Alessandro Del Piero the same love when he departed for Australia.

With 228 Serie A goals to his name the Rome native insisted that Silvio Piola’s record of 274 was virtually impossible to reach but would not rule out a return to the Italian national side for the World Cup in Brazil.

“I love this club and they love me.” Totti told Tuttomercatoweb.

“I want to really thank the president [James Palotta] for giving me the opportunity to keep wearing the shirt that I have always supported and always loved.

“Everyone wanted it to happen, me and the club.

“I have another two years on my contract, two more years of responsibility, we have a lot of work to do and I hope we do well for this American Roma.

“Del Piero decided to go and play in Australia. He wasn’t treated by Juventus as Roma have acted with me and that is disappointing for him. I, on the other hand, am delighted.

“We’ve started the season on the right foot, we are a good squad and our coach is really competent. It will be a competitive Roma.

“The derby against Lazio? Sunday’s game is completely different to the others. You face it and live through it differently. I don’t give predictions before matches.

“I’m not thinking about the World Cup. I want to do well with Roma. Then we will see how I am physically and mentally in May. My Azzurri shirt is the Roma shirt.

“Reaching the goal tally of Piola is almost impossible. I’m not thinking about it to be honest. The first objective is to do well with Roma.”
