Premier League side West Ham United could make a move for Roma’s Marco Borrborrielloiello before Monday’s transfer deadline despite the striker being linked with a return to Genoa where he spent last season on loan.

The 31-year-old has been the subject of speculation of a return to the Grifone for most of the summer but a deal involving a swap with fellow Italian striker Alberto Gilardino never materialised.

According to Sportmediaset the former AC Milan striker could still leave by the close of the transfer window on Monday with the English side reigniting their interest in the striker.

However, the deal will depend on coach Rudi Garcia giving his approval to the deal as the Frenchman is believed to be unwilling to dispose of Boriello without an adequate replacement in place.

Last season the striker scored 12 times in Serie A in 28 appearances as he helped Genoa narrowly avoid relegation from Italy’s top flight.
