AC Milan have made contact with Saint-Etienne over Faouzi Ghoulam and are hoping to buy the player in the January transfer window.

The Rossoneri will be hoping to bring him in as another defensive signing after securing the services of Adil Rami from Valencia.

Newspaper L’Equipe has reported that Milan and Saint-Etienne have already entered negotiations for the 22-year-old.

The defender is versatile up the left side, being able to play at left back, left midfield and left wing.

His current contract expires in 2016 and the required fee for the player is reportedly €3 million.

The left-back was being observed by fellow Serie A club Torino earlier in the year but Milan have now overtaken them as the main bidder for the player.

Ghoulam has made six appearances for Saint-Etienne this season, scoring a goal and providing an assist.

Along with Adil Rami, Milan have also reportedly signed Keisuke Honda after the CSKA Moscow player’s contract was due to run out this January.
