AC Milan coach Massimilano Allegri was pleased with his players despite their 3-2 loss to Juventus on Sunday night.

Milan took the lead after 20 seconds, before goals from Andrea Pirlo, Sebastian Giovinco and Giorgio Chiellini gave the Bianconeri a 3-1 lead. Sulley Muntari scored his second in stoppage time to halve the advantage late on.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Allegri told press Milan “had a good match.”

“Now we have to recover all the players and tackle every game to climb up the table,” Allegri said.

“We had a good match but we allowed too much to Juventus.

“We did foul after losing the ball and when you face teams of that value you get punished.”

Milan now sit 12th, but Allegri is not worried about his side’s lack of form yet.

“We must not let it  bring us down, the season is long and we have all the possibilities to improve.”

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini criticised Philipe Mexes for reportedly punching him, claiming “this is not football” but the Rossoneri boss disagreed.

“It was a shot in the back,  if you want to say that it is a punch go ahead. Chiellini’s face was not touched.

“We are without Kaka’, as well as [Mattia] De Sciglio and [Giampaolo] Pazzini. After the break we will get all of our defenders and [Valter] Birsa back.”

Alessandro Matri had another quiet game for his new side, but the Milan boss was pleased with his efforts.

“He worked hard. It was not easy to play between the three central defenders for Juventus.”
