Eder Balanta River PlateBarcelona have joined Napoli and Juventus in their pursuit of River Plate centre-back Eder Alvarez Balanta.

Despite limited appearances for the Argentinian giants, the 20-year-old has garnered interest from several of Europe’s top clubs including the Azzurri and Bianconeri.

Spanish newspapers Marca and Sport are reporting that Barcelona have joined the Serie A duo in the race to sign the Colombian and are keen to bring him to the Camp Nou.

Speaking to Marca, Barcelona centre-back Javier Mascherano praised Balanta’s abilities.

“He looks very good. He is very young but from what I have seen he has a lot of quality, He is is good at bringing the ball out from the back.”

Balanta commented on the rumours, stating it would be an honour for him to become the first Colombian to play for the Spanish giants.

“If this turns out to be true, it would be a big privilege for me, and I would give thanks to God. As far as I know no Colombian has ever played for Barcelona, so I would be the first in history.”

As afan of Barca, one can say we are in desprate need of a CB.We are not sure whether this guy will fill the gap in the porous back line or not but it seems to be apromising deal (if finished) esp he is young if proved to be successful, he will be permanent solution for at least adecade.
