Cagliari coach acknowledges Klose impact

Diego Lopez Cagliari coach acknowledged the contribution of substitute after his introduction at half-time turned Sunday nights’ match with in the home sides’ favour.

However, the Rossoblu coach still insisted that he was happy with his teams’ performance despite the defeat and would continue the same approach to matches even when travelling to their rivals.

“We played a good game especially in the first half when we created a lot,” Lopez told Sky Sport Italia.

“We played the match we wanted, using the spaces that Lazio left us, but we could not score.

“Klose has changed the game in favour of Lazio scoring the first to give them the advantage and shortly after won the penalty.

“We were not able to react immediately and reopen the race because we were wrong too far forward.

“We approach every game the same way whether at home or away, but things do not always go as we would like.”

- My interest in Italian football began with the broadcasting of Football Italia in the early 90's, turning to infatuation with the Champions League victories of AC Milan, Paolo Maldini an all-time hero, and Juventus in 1994 and 1996. With no allegiance to any Italian side in particuar I have a strange fascination with Genoa since witnessing them beat my beloved Liverpool in the 1992 UEFA Cup. The last two decades following the reds have strangely seen frequent contests against Italian opposition. Also writing for, you can follow me on Twitter: @rabbitrabbiton
