Roma has shown interest in the Colombian striker Fredy Montero, member of the Sporting Lisbon of Portugal.

The 26-year-old from Barranquilla is currently in Portugal on a loan from the Seattle Sounders of the MLS.

According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias, Montero’s strong beginning of season, in which he has scored nine goals in seven matches, has led to Roma’s interest.

Montero is at his first European experience, after eight years played in Colombia and United States.

Good think Seattle decided to ditch Montero for the 31-year-old “in his prime” Clint Dempsey . . . he’s a quality player, i think Serie A might be a bit of a leap for him though, especially at a club where he’ll be under pressure to score consistently like Roma

Montero asked the Sounders front office for a transfer, which they technically still haven’t given him yet. He is on loan, but may never come back to the MLS. The Sounders never “ditched” anyone. He wanted a chance to play for Colombia and would not get that opportunity playing in Seattle.
