Former AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini has admitted that he’s happy to be back at Arsenal.

The 29-year-old, who originally played for the English club from 2004 to 2008 before signing with Milan, rejoined the Gunners from the Rossoneri this summer on a free transfer and is excited to be playing in the Premier League again.

Flamini spoke to the Daily Star about his previous stint at Arsenal and his time in Serie A, while also commenting on why he prefers to play in England’s top league.

“Coming back has been a great opportunity,” said the Frenchman. “In the end it feels like I’ve never left.

“At Arsenal I’m bound by the memory of four incredible years, but also the regret of our defeat in the 2006 Champions League final in Paris.

“My time at Milan? I spent a long period in Milan and I also won a Scudetto with them.

“However, I missed the Premier League’s fast-paced and physical matches, which are full of goals and space.”
