Inler - NapoliNapoli’s Gokhan Inler has stated his confidence in teammate and club captain Paolo Cannavaro despite the defenders lack of playing time this season.

The Italian defender was an integral part of last season’s Napoli side under Walter Mazzarri but has become a more peripheral member of the squad since the arrival of Rafael Benítez.

While speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Inler said “We are a great squad, and Paolo will always remain as our captain.”

Current coach Benítez has always been known for his squad rotation.

“Benítez has shown that anyone can play,” the Swiss midfielder continued. “The fact that all of us have a use is our strength.”

Cannavaro has featured in just four of Napoli’s eight Serie A games so far this season, with his most recent performance coming as a substitute away to Roma, a game in which he conceded the penalty which resulted in Roma’s second goal and a sending off the the defender.
