Italy FIGC logoItaly will be one of the top eight seeds in the draw for the 2014 World Cup group stages in Brazil on December 6.

The Azzurri qualified with two games to play in Group B, making them the first European nation to qualify for the World Cup alongside the Netherlands who qualified with ease as winners of Group D.

The seeding for the draw is based on FIFA World Rankings as they stand in October and it is mathematically impossible for Italy to drop below seventh before then, guaranteeing them top seeds.

As the rankings currently stand, the top eight seeds are; Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Columbia, Belgium and Uruguay.

At the moment, however, of the top eight seeds only Brazil, Italy and Argentina have qualified so far.
