With a striker apparently still on president Claudio Lotito’s wish list it has been reported that Lazio could be set to make a bid for Aston Villa’s much sought after Christian Benteke.

The Belgian international only arrived at the Premier League club from Genk last summer but has been a revelation in England scoring 23 times in 39 league appearances thus far.

According to Tuttomercatoweb the Biancocelesti are considering making a bid but are conscious that the other suitors have already had bids in the region of €25 million turned down for the 22-year-old.

The Aquile will also have to battle it out with competition from Serie A champions Juventus and a trio of top English sides in Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United who are all reportedly interesting in adding the striker to their squads.

After selling Libor Kozak to Aston Villa on the final day of the summer transfer window Lazio continue to search for another striker after their attempts to land Galatasaray’s Burak Yilmaz fell through.
