Roma are looking to add Bayern Munich attacker Xherdan Shaqiri to their squad, though their interest could be met by resistance by the reigning European champions.

The diminutive winger only joined the German side from Basel last summer in a €11.6 million deal.

Despite helping the club to a historic treble, the winger only had a bit part role with half of his 26 Bundesliga appearances coming from the substitutes bench.

As a result Roma are interested in landing Shaqiri, though Infoticker.ch report that the 22-year-old is deemed a significant part of Bayern’s future and will likely hold onto the winger as his contract does not expire until 2016.

Under new coach Pep Guardiola, Shaqiri has once again spent time on the substitutes bench this season after starting just three of his six Bundesliga appearances while scoring once.
