Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has quieted rumours that have linked him with a move to Serie A in the near future.

The 27-year-old, who’s been with the Gunners since 2009, has been linked with numerous Italian clubs in recent months including Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan, but he insists that he has no plans of leaving the Premier League side any time soon.

Vermaelen spoke about his transfer situation and conceded that he only has Arsenal on his mind for now.

“At the moment, I’m not thinking about the market,” said the Belgian international, as reported by the London Evening Standard.

“It’s only November and it’s still early. I’m also tired of talking about my situation. I’ve read that I would leave here, but this isn’t the case.

“I’m focused on Arsenal and I try to do my best for the team. I’m happy that Arsenal are first in the standings and I think positively about the future.

“I’m confident that I can still play with this club and every time I’m called to play, I’ll get involved and give my contribution.”
