Domenico CriscitoZenit Saint Petersburg defender Domenico Criscito has revealed that he hopes to maintain a spot in the Italy national team line up after his recent return.

The 26-year-old appeared for the Azzurri in their 1-1 draw against Germany at the San Siro on Friday and admitted that he’s happy to be back in an Italy shirt.

Criscito spoke to Rai Sport about his call up to Cesare Prandelli’s squad and conceded that he feels a tie against the Germans was the right result.

“I think ending in a tie was right,” said the former Genoa man.

“Playing in the Azzurri shirt is always beautiful. I’m doing fine and I’m happy to be with the group.

“I hope to remain in the squad for a long time by showing my value with Zenit and the national team.”

The left back has made 21 appearances for Italy’s senior national team since his debut with them in 2009.
