Gennaro Gattuso has blasted Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini by claiming that he’s incompetent.

The 35-year-old was named head coach of the Serie B side in June of this year, but was sacked by the club in September after having a poor start to the season.

Gattuso spoke to French magazine So Foot about Zamparini and criticised the president for his lack of knowledge when it comes to leading the club.

“He called me once in the night to discuss squad’s formation and thought it was obvious that as a coach I should be available for all 24 hours,” said the former AC Milan defensive midfielder.

“The problem is that he’s totally incompetent. He doesn’t understand anything and it’s hypocritical and bad.

“I think he’s under pressure and would sell the club if he could, but who would even buy Palermo?”

The Rosanero are now being lead by coach Giuseppe Iachini and are currently in fourth place on the Serie B table.
