Former Inter midfielder and Italian international Thiago Motta is reportedly keen on renewing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the near future.

Brazilian-born Motta has been a mainstay for the French side since joining from the Nerazzurri in 2012, and in light of his contract expiring in 2015, PSG has begun the process of negotiating an extension.

One potential stumbling block on the road to a new contact, however, remains a new salary for the 31-year-old, in light of the wages received by teammates Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani.

“There are ongoing negotiations for the renewal, which are never short and we should give time to both parties,” said Motta’s agent Dario Canovi.

“I believe that in the end, both sides will settle on an agreement.”

Rumours are currently circulating that both Motta and PSG plan to come to an agreement before Christmas, as a speedy resolution would be favourable for both camps.

Since making the move to France, Motta has made 47 appearances for the capital side and scored on five occasions.
