Livorno coach Davide Nicola believes the Amaranto’s 2-0 defeat against Inter was a good result for his side, and marks a step forward in their progress.

The Amaranto put in a good performance despite their loss and Nicola remained upbeat about his side’s performance.

“I think Livorno has been one of the best teams to leave Inter with nothing,” Nicola told Sky Sport after the match.

“It’s too bad we didn’t make more of a couple of counter attacks.

“In the second half we raised the tempo and created some dangerous chances. Today we made a big step forward in our growth.”

He also added his thoughts on how the remainder of Livorno’s season could play out.

“[This year will be] quiet, I don’t think there will be much [happening].” Nicola said.

“When you want to be competitive, you change little or nothing in the group, and I believe blindly in this group.

“It’s hard to win a game when you don’t create a lot [of chances]. Our aim is to remain in the league, we know we have a difficult test ahead of us.

“It’s not easy [when you get into direct battles with teams around you] to never fail.”
