The rumored move of Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin to Chelsea in January may now be in doubt.

The Colombian midfielder’s performances this season caught the eye of Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho and talk was circulating that a €15 million deal had been agreed with the London club.

However, Sky Sport Italia report that there is no agreement between Guarin and the Blues and no official offer to Inter president Erick Thorir for Guarin’s services.

Chelsea is rumored to be readying replacement options for Guarin and are making inquiries for Benfica’s Nemanja Matic and Tottenham’s Paulinho.

If the Nerazzurri decide to sell Guarin, either to Chelsea or another suitor, Inter is looking at bringing in 21-year Swiss international Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach to fill the void.

The 27-year old Guarin has started every Serie A match for Inter this season and has been in good form with three goals and three assists.
