Former AC Milan goalkeeper Dida has signed a contract with Brazilian outfit Internacional for the next two years.

The 40-year-old signed for the Porto Alegre based side after the veteran failed to reach a wage agreement with Grêmio to extend his stay.

According to reports from Xinhua in Rio de Janeiro, top flight side Internacional confirmed on its official website on Friday that Dida had joined the club from city rivals Gremio for an undisclosed fee while Internacional also welcomes the arrival of Brazilian striker Wellington Paulista.

“The two-year contract gives me confidence because it shows that the club believes in me,” the former Brazil international said.

“It’s going to be a great challenge but I believe in my ability to do well. I will work as hard as I can to get the best out of myself.”

He played 37 matches, conceding 34 goals and helped Grêmio finish second in the Brasileirão last season. The addition and experience of Dida will hopefully try to help Colorado and improve on their last season’s disappointing final league position of 14th.

The former Brazil international played 91 games for his nation for over 10 years winning the 2002 World Cup while also being successful at the Italian giants producing a 206 game career including two Champions League triumphs in 2003 and 2007.
