Lazio sporting director dismisses January move for Celtic striker

Samaras celtic sporting director has dismissed speculation that striker is a January transfer target.

Reports in the British media had claimed that the 28-year-old Greek international was being targeted by the Biancocelesti, but Tare has insisted that they are not currently interested in the player they tried to sign from Celtic in 2011.

“I have not talked to British newspapers,” he told Lalaziosiamonoi.

“We are focused on the challenge of this weekend, there is time later for the (transfer) market.

“But Samaras? Currently, he is not a goal of Lazio.”

The former forward joined the Glasgow side from in 2008 for £1.2 million and is Celtic’s second longest-serving player in the current squad after captain .

Samaras is in the last six months of his Celtic contact and could leave as a free agent in June.
