Everton - John HeitingaEverton defender John Heitinga is open to a January move amidst reports that Napoli is keen to land the Dutchman.

Everton coach Roberto Martinez has confirmed he’s willing to sell the out-of-favour centre-half during the January transfer window after keeping the veteran on the bench for most of the season to date.

According to The Mirror, the Azzurri are looking to bring Heitinga to Italy and could be aided by the fact that the 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Goodison Park, meaning the Toffees could part with him for a cut price before losing him for free in the summer.

In addition to Napoli, Fiorentina and Roma are also interested in landing the former Ajax and Atletico Madrid defender.

No shortage of Evertonians who’d drive him over to Naples to make sure he’s off our wage bill. Personally I would’ve loved to see him recapture the form that made him our player of the season a couple back. Huge shame he’s lost the pace and concentration on the pitch for Premier League intensity games. Think he’d be wished well in Serie A by all at Goodison.
