Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has been staunch in his support of Gennaro Gattuso regarding his involvement in the Calcioscommesse scandal.

Zamparini, who sacked Gattuso from his coaching role at the Rosanero back in September, told Radio 24 that it was impossible the former Milan man could be involved in the betting scandal.

“I would not put my hand in the fire for anyone, but I know Gattuso, I would give him my wallet because I know he is a trustworthy person,” Zamparini told the Italian radio station.

“It seems impossible to me that Gennaro could be involved. I respect him as a man and I admire him.

“The games at the end of a season always produce some unexpected outcomes, there are always various interests and so much to play for.”

Gattuso has also come out strongly against these allegations claiming he would be willing to kill himself if he was found guilty of anything.
