Former AC Milan defender Christian Panucci believes that the club still have a lot to improve on after their 2-2 draw with Livorno on Saturday.

The Rossoneri are attempting to stage a comeback from their poor start to the season, as they currently sit in ninth place on the Serie A table, and the 40-year-old thinks they need to focus more on their defence and ball management.

Panucci spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the Diavolo’s draw with Livorno and criticised the performance of young forward M’Baye Niang, who’s still trying to find his place in the team.

“AC Milan have made mistakes in their defence and with their management of the ball,” said the ex-Real Madrid and Roma man.

“I believe that the team have actually taken a step back in their game.

“Niang? He had some great opportunities, but missed twice.

“First, he could’ve served the ball to [Mario] Balotelli, who was alone in the area. Secondly, he took a bad kick from a good position.”
