Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has called on his Bosnian compatriot Edin Džeko, who currently plays for Premier League side Manchester City, to join him at the Serie A club.

The Talk Sport website has reported that the central midfielder, whose contract with the Giallorossi expires in 2015, would like to see his national team mate come to Roma and gain more playing time before next year’s World Cup.

“I hope he can play more ahead of the World Cup” Pjanic told Sport Mediaset.

“Here in Italy he would make a difference.

“At the moment he belongs to Manchester City, but I do not know for how long”.

Džeko’s contract with The Sky Blues expires in 2015 and in recent weeks he has also been linked with a move to Inter, with Nerazzurri president Eric Thohir interested in acquiring the striker’s services.

The former Wolfsburg man has started just five of Manchester City’s 15 Premier League games this term, scoring  three goals.
