Edy Reja is expected to be named the new coach of Lazio on Saturday, replacing the soon to be sacked Vladimir Petkovic.

While Petkovic has not yet been relieved of his duties, it is expected that president Claudio Lotito will sack the 50-year-old on Saturday.

With the two sides failing to reach an agreement on mutually terminating his deal, it is believed that Lotito will sack him with just cause due to Petkovic failing to notify the club that he was in talks to take over the Swiss national team before last week’s announcement that he would become their new coach after next summer’s World Cup.

Once that is formalized, gianlucadimarzio.com are reporting that the former coach Reja will return to the club and sign an agreement that will run until 2015.

The news would mark a return for Reja as he coached the capital club from 2010 until 2012.

His last tenure ended with his resignation despite Lotito publicly asking him to remain at the club at the time.
