Sampdoria have initiated talks with Roma in hopes of adding attacker Mattia Destro on loan in January.

Along with the possible return of Antonio Cassano to il Doria, the Genoa side are hopeful of adding the 22 year-old Italian to bolster their attacking as they look to improve on their current 14th position in the table.

Destro is not considered non-transferable, and according to TuttoSport, the good relationship between Sampdoria and Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini could help to facilitate this move.

The Italian international has made three appearances this season since returning from a knee injury in November. He has scored once in each appearance this season but has yet to play a full match since his return.
