AC Milan defender close to joining Trabzonspor

Philippe Mexes - AC MilanFrench international and centre-back is in talks to join Turkish side .

The 31 year-old was understood to be nearing a move to Monaco and recently Fiorentina began inquires as well.

Trabzonspor are confident of snapping up the defender after a nightmare season at Milan according to L’Equipe.

The Turkish side are competing in the Europa League with fellow countrymen also at the club.

Milan have grown impatient with Mexes’ defensive shortcomings and want to rid themselves of his €4 million wages.

Mexes has played 18 competitive matches this season and scored the vital goal to allow Milan to compete for Champions League qualification.
