Raul Verdu, agent of Barcelona striker Antonio Sanabria, has revealed that the player will be joining Roma this month.

The 17-year-old has been strongly linked to both the Giallorossi and Premier League side Arsenal in the recent months leading up to the January transfer window, but was confirmed to be meeting with Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini in the capital city earlier this week.

Verdu spoke to La Repubblica about his client’s choice to join the Lupi and admitted that making a decision wasn’t easy for the Paraguayan international.

“We are in Rome to formalise an agreement,” said the agent.

“Toni has made a difficult choice, but now he wants to play in a Giallorossi shirt.”

Antonio Sanabria started his professional career with Barca just this year and has scored three goals in his 10 league appearances for the Barcelona B team. He also has three appearances with Paraguay’s senior national team since making his debut with them in August 2013.
