Chelsea have reportedly joined a whole host of clubs including Inter and Napoli in the hunt for Basel centre-back Fabian Schar.
The 22-year-old Swiss international was highly impressive in both of his side’s victories over the Blues during the group phase of this season’s Champions League, and coach Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the player who has earned such rave reviews in Switzerland for his commanding defensive displays over the last 18 months.
According to the Guardian, Chelsea have already sounded out the Swiss club over the defender to enquire about how much it would cost to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Schar, who has scored seven goals in 36 appearances for Basel since moving from FC Wil 1900 in the summer of 2012, has also attracted the interest of Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Serie A duo Inter and Napoli.
