Tim Cup - Coppa ItaliaWednesday night saw Napoli, AC Milan, and Siena qualify for the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, by defeating Atalanta, Spezia, and Catania respectively.

In the early kick-off Siena ran riot in Sicily against Catania winning 4-1. Despite the fact that Siena won by a large goal margin it was actually the Rossazzurri who took the lead through Sebastian Leto. Siena pulled one back twenty minutes later through former Juventus striker Michele Paolucci.

The Bianconeri went 2-1 up through Francesco Valiani’s header 15 fifteen minutes into the second half. In injury time, Siena did the unthinkable by scoring two goals in the space of two minutes. Nico Pulzetti’s striker was followed by a neat finish from Valerio Rosseti to finish off the game in style.

The only high point in Spezia’s night at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is the traveling fans who occupied the Curva Nord, other than that the Rossoneri swept past the Serie B outfit. Robinho put the Rossoneri ahead when he dived forward and headed home from a cross coming in from the right.

Minutes later, the Rossoneri went 2-0 up through Giampaolo Pazzini who finished really well. Keisuke Honda then made it 3-0 when he finished into an empty net, before Verona loanee Nicola Ferrari pulled one back for the Aquilotti.

In the late kick-off Rafael Benitez’s men continued their fine form by beating Atalanta 3-1 at the Stadio San Paolo. La Dea took a surprise lead when Giuseppe De Luca finished off a fine counter attack from the visitors, before Jose Callejon made it 1-1 with a fantastic first-time volley.

In the second half, Lorenzo Insigne put Napoli ahead, taking advantage of Cristiano Del Grosso’s error. Callejon finished the game off doubling his personal tally and putting the game out of sight.
