Genoa frontman Alberto Gilardino is reported to have said no to an offer from MLS side Toronto FC.

The former AC Milan player had been linked with the Canadian side and was apparently excited to have a chance to showcase his talents abroad.

However, according to Sky Sport Italia, Gilardino has rejected the move as he would rather remain in Italy for the remainder of the season.

He was widely anticipated to move to Toronto for the start of the new MLS campaign, but a change of mind means that he could remain in Europe for the foreseeable future.

Gilardino has made 18 appearances for the Grifone this season, scoring eight goals.
