Roma forward Gervinho has insisted that the capital city club believe they have a shot at winning the Scudetto this season, as there’s still quite some time to go before the campaign ends.

The Giallorossi currently sit nine points behind league leading Juventus on the Serie A table, but have a chance to narrow the gap to just six points if they can secure a victory over Hellas Verona on Sunday.

Gervinho spoke to Sky Sport Italia about Roma’s chances of surpassing the Bianconeri in the league standings, while also taking time to praise team boss Rudi Garcia for his coaching ways.

“Juve are very strong, but the season has a long way to go yet,” said the 26-year-old, who led the Lupi to the Coppa Italia semifinals by scoring the only goal in their 1-0 win over Juventus on January 21.

“It’s true they have a consistent advantage, but we’ll play the head-to-head game at the Stadio Olimpico and we believe in the Scudetto. There are many games to go and the championship is certainly not over.

“Garcia is great because he manages to give every single player confidence, involving them all in the project.”
