Dries Mertens NapoliNapoli forward Dries Mertens has revealed that he’s happy to have joined the Italian side and has no intentions of leaving them any time soon.

The 26-year-old signed with the Partenopei from PSV Eindhoven for a reported fee of around €9.5 million before the start of the current season and is already becoming a key player in the team’s attack, as he has five goals in his 18 Serie A appearances thus far.

Mertens spoke to ELF Voetbal about his decision to join the Azzurri and admitted that coach Rafa Benitez is the best tactician he’s ever worked with.

“There were many clubs that were interested in me,” said the Belgian international. “But none of them offered me an improvement in my career.

“The only one that would allow me to make a jump in quality was Napoli.

“Benitez? He’s the greatest coach I’ve ever worked with.

“My future? I don’t see myself leaving here. I have no regrets for the choice I made over the summer.”
