Napoli hope to close Jorginho deal amid Liverpool interest

Jorginho Hellas VeronaNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is determined to provide midfield reinforcements for coach Rafa Benitez’s side as they look to secure the services of Brazilian-Italian starlet Jorginho, with Liverpool seemingly eyeing the player.

The partenopei may have come away from their trip to Verona with more than three points in hand as they handed Hellas Verona only their second home loss in 10 Serie A matches.

Il Mattino are reporting Napoli offered €7.5 million for Jorginho’s services and the number may rise an additional €2.5 million based on performance clauses. If the terms are accepted, the young midfielder will earn a reported annual salary of €800,000.

The Brazilian born 22-year old came to Italy as a youngster and has been a regular starter for the Mastini for three years. Jorginho has shone this year with seven goals and the midfielder’s creativity and ability to provide accurate long passes have been instrumental in Hellas Verona’s first season in Serie A in 11 years.

Napoli will hope to close the deal soon as Jorginho has caught the eye of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and his terrific form is sure draw more suitors as the January transfer market continues.
