Criscito - ZenitLyon captain Maxime Gonalons is close to signing for Napoli, but the 24-year-old French international midfielder will reportedly not be the last acquisition of what promises to be a busy winter transfer window for the Partenopei.

The Azzurri currently lie in third place in Serie A, ten points behind leaders Juventus, and suffered a cruel exit at the group stages of the Champions League in December, but with the club still fighting for the Europa League, the Coppa Italia and the Scudetto, president Aurelio De Laurentiis has promised further arrivals in January.

According to Tuttonapoli.net, next on Vesuviani tactician Rafa Benitez’s wishlist is Zenit St Petersburg full-back Domenico Criscito thought to be the coach’s first choice to replace Pablo Armero, who has been deemed surplus by the former Liverpool tactician.

Another defender being targeted is Liverpool’s Danish international Daniel Agger, while Napoli have also intensified talks with Marseille for centre-back Nicolas N’Koulou, however, with the Cameroonian having recently rejected a January move to Arsenal, any interested parties may have to wait until the summer to sign him.
