Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina could possibly remain with the Azzurri once the season ends despite reports claiming otherwise.
The 31-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with the Partenopei from Liverpool and was previously expected to be joining Barcelona at the end of the 2013-14 season, though the Serie A side may now be looking to keep him.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Napoli are willing to pay the Reds’ asking price of around €6 million to permanently sign the Spanish international once the campaign ends, which might end up blocking his potential move to Barca.
Manuel Garcia Quillon, an agent of the veteran goalkeeper, is looking to find the best solution for his client by the end of the season, as Arsenal, Inter and Atletico Madrid are also supposedly in the running to secure the player’s services as well.
Reina has been with Liverpool since 2005 and was unexpectedly transferred on-loan to Napoli over the summer, where he was reunited with former coach Rafa Benitez.
Im a big liverpool fan just seen a transfer story that napoli want to buy pepe reina for €6 million off us i dont think im the only one who would say this he is worth alot more then that i remember arsenal wanting to buy him last season and there was €20 million being talked about his worth more then €6 million #YNWA#
if we sell pep for $6m we are proving once again we are complete mugs in the transfer market, what a complete joke. ynwa
Napoli have already forked out, £1m for the loan, + £5.5m salary, do your sums lads and you will see it makes sense.
Napoi must cough up £12 million for him; and he is theirs.
