Bonucci - JuventusThe International Federation of Football History and Statistics has announced world football’s best clubs, with only Juventus and Lazio representing Serie A in the top 20.

Since 1991 the IFFHS has published their Club World Rankings annually, calculated from all match results from all official competitions in the world over the calendar year.

Bayern Munich topped the rankings thanks to Jupp Heynckes’ side’s historic treble, and then new boss Pep Guardiola adding the European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup to the trophy cabinet.

It’s the second best score recorded as the Bavarian’s achievement was only surpassed by Giovanni Trapattoni’s Juventus in 1993 with 327.7 points.

The Bianconeri are still Serie A’s best but find themselves down in 19th place with Coppa Italia holders Lazio in 20th.

Only three other Italian sides made the top 50 with Milan in 35th, Fiorentina at 38th and Napoli joint 46th.

The IFFHS’ ranking takes into consideration the results of twelve months of continental and intercontinental competitions, national league matches (including play-offs) and the most important national cup (excluding points won before the round of 16).

All countries are rated at four levels based upon the national league performance—clubs in the highest level leagues receive 4 points for each match won, 2 for a draw and 0 for a defeat. Level 2 is assigned 3 pts. (win), 1.5 (draw) and 0 (lost), and so on with the next lower levels.
