Boca Juniors midfielder Leandro Paredes has said he hopes his imminent move to Roma will be good for his career after Boca president Daniel Angelici confirmed the player would be leaving for Serie A.

The 19-year-old is believed to be joining the Giallorossi on an initial 18-month loan for €250,000 with an option to buy for €4.5 million, with the loan period being used to assess his recovery from a fractured metatarsal.

“I hope it will be useful for my career, [fellow Argentine Nicolas] Burdisso will give me a hand,” said Paredes, speaking to Radio La Red.

“I don’t leave happy because Boca gave me everything and I would have liked to repay them.

“I wouldn’t have left, but changing could do me well and help me find my best form.”

As Roma currently have the maximum number of allowed non-EU players in their squad, Paredes is likely to be sent on a further loan to another Italian club for the remainder of the season.
