Gabriel Paletta - ParmaMartin Guastadisegno, agent of Parma defender Gabriel Paletta, has revealed that his client is hoping to earn a spot in the Italy World Cup squad this summer.

The 27-year-old, who was born in Argentina, has played for his home country’s Under-20 team and won the FIFA World Youth Championship with them in 2005, but has not made an appearance for the senior international team.

Guastadisegno spoke to ParmaLive.com about his client’s future with the Crociati and admitted that he’s already preparing himself in case he receives a call up to the Azzurri squad.

“We are pleased that many speak of him,” said the agent. “But I spoke with [Pietro] Leonardi and he confirmed his desire for Gabriel to remain until June.

“He has a dream. He wants to play at the World Cup in an Italy shirt.

“Is a call-up nearby? I haven’t seen any signs of one. Gabriel doesn’t know anything yet, but he has hope.

“He’s completed the practices in this sense. If they need him, then he’ll be ready.”
