New AC Milan defender Adil Rami is eager to get his career properly underway at the San Siro.

The 28-year-old’s move to the Rossoneri was made official at the beginning of January despite having trained with the club since September.

“I was happy for the reception from the fans, they expect much from me and I am ready to prove to everyone that Milan have done well to sign me,” Rami told the press.

“Milan do not deserve to be in this position in the league.

“Will I play Sunday? I hope so, I am ready and raring to go. I can’t wait to get out on the field. I am eager to help Milan.

“I believe I have everything I possibly can to contribute to Milan. I want to help this team become more competitive.

“I chose the No 13 shirt because I have always been inspired by Alessandro Nesta. He was a great defender, with great quality, who never hesitated to give his all.

“The first few months at Milan have gone well, the team is fantastic and this is a big club. I am very luck to be here. My objectives? I want to win.

“I have great desire to play, then it will be down to Allegri who that is alongside.

“I have a great understanding with [Philippe] Mexes, we have played in the national team and we get along very well both on and off the pitch.”
