Giampiero Ventura claimed that Torino’s performance against Fiorentina was almost perfect and only lacked a goal.

The Granata held Vincenzo Montella’s fourth-placed side to a goalless draw at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon, moving them up to seventh in Serie A.

“We were facing a side that everyone is talking about, but we played a tactically important game,” the veteran coach told Sky Sport Italia. “We had three or four good scoring opportunities.

“It would’ve been the perfect performance if we’d just got one of those chances into the net. You couldn’t see the gap in quality on the field.

Alessio Cerci was a constant threat for Toro against his former club, and Ventura took the chance to praise his star-man.

“Cerci is a very important player for us and he’s improving in tactical terms too. If he continues like this, he’ll be a complete player by the end of the season. Even today he’s already extraordinary and unique in his role.”
